The commercial team, based in London, are currently seeking a talented Part II Architectural Assistant to join their fast-growing team. This wonderful practice is AJ100 listed with over 220 people specializing in 3 main disciplines - Hotels, Residential and Commercial Buildings.

Summary of Role:

The ideal candidate will be a Part II qualified architect, with experience on medium to large scale UK commercial projects. REVIT PROFICIENCY IS ESSENTIAL. You will be joining a wonderful team where you will support on the delivery of medium to large scale high-quality projects, across the commercial sector and residential / hospitality in the future.

In addition to working on a broad range of exciting projects, the practice also offers;

  • Collaborative working environment with real input on projects
  • Strong focus on internal promotion and staff development, with many senior staff having joined at a junior level
  • Work-life balance (not a late working culture)

Skills:

  • Proficiency in Revit is essential
  • Experience working across the RIBA stages, especially 3-5

What is your role:

  • Drive the development and execution of project designs from inception to completion across multiple design stages.
  • Develop and coordinate project designs, details, material specifications, and technologies, aligning them with project specifications.
  • Ensure the quality, continuity, and consistency of project drawings and documentation through effective coordination.
  • Collaborate seamlessly across all project disciplines, including architecture, structure, MEP, cost control, and interior design.
  • Foster positive and progressive day-to-day communications with clients, consultants, and the internal team.
  • Ensure project delivery aligns with the firm's internal design stage and adheres to the overall project program.
  • Monitor and uphold project milestones, employing established studio tools such as project action lists, project programs, and site reports.
  • Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Rigorously develop and implement the established and client-approved concept design, minimizing variations unless authorized by the design director/partners/client or necessary for coordination purposes in structure/MEP/cost control.

      

What makes you good at your job:

  • Possess a minimum of a 3 - 5 year's post bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or equivalent.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record with a minimum of 3 - 5 year's experience in project management, detail and design development, construction documents, construction administration, and site supervision, particularly in high-end projects.
  • Showcase a portfolio featuring high-quality projects of similar scale, emphasising experience in the residential, private villa, and commercial sectors.
  • Exhibit a substantial understanding of client communications, contract documentation, project scheduling, team leadership, building design, technical detailing, consultant coordination, and construction administration.
  • Display self-motivation and self-discipline, thriving in a collaborative studio environment; possess the ability to organise, encourage, and lead project teams.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills, initiative, and the ability to work independently.
  • Be a proficient communicator with excellent written and spoken English.
  • Showcase expertise in AutoCAD, BIM (ARCHICAD ++), Adobe Creative Suite, and Sketchup; proficiency in hand drawings and visualizations is an advantage.
  • Provide evidence of a track record of achieving excellence in project design development and delivery.

The Role:

We are currently looking for an exceptionally creative, ambitious and collaborative Part II Architectural Assistant to join a highly talented, growing team in Central London.

As an Architectural Assistant, your main responsibility will be to create and improve drawings with a keen sense of design. You'll also be responsible for producing models, images, and other documents related to both design and technical aspects, primarily for residential projects across all RIBA stages.

Working on a variety of stimulating projects, including new-build, retrofit, extensions, and additions to buildings in sensitive or heritage contexts; from domestic to large-scale residential and mixed-use work. Their main focus is always on creating top-notch designs.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of one year of experience at the Part I level within a UK architectural studio, or design-oriented practice.
  • Proficiency in 2D CAD software and excellent command of Sketchup and V-ray.
  • Producing exceptional visuals and illustrations with post-production editing skills
  • Proficiency in teamwork, combined with the capacity to work independently with time management skills.
  • A functional understanding of the UK planning system.
  • Prior project involvement spanning RIBA Stages 0 to 2 is a bonus

What is your role:

Your responsibilities may include:

  • responsibility for the design at all stages and construction packages
  • preparing, developing and editing, drawings, models, images and other documents relating to the design
  • coordinating with the design team to establish and develop building type, style, cost etc.
  • coordinating with and reviewing information from the wider design team, engineers, consultants, contractors and client bodies.
  • preparing design presentations
  • construction documentation including detailing, schedules and specifications
  • corresponding with contractors and reviewing shop-drawings and submittals
  • monitor construction work in progress to ensure compliance with the design

 

 Candidates should:

  • have excellent creative design capabilities, demonstrated by a portfolio
  • have excellent graphic, communication and organisational skills
  • have previous professional experience in an architectural firm undertaking the responsibilities above
  • demonstrate their experience in all stages of design and construction administration
  • have good interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate with and support your design team
  • be proactive, work efficiently and systematically with the design team within an energetic and fast paced environment to meet project demands
  • have a high sense of responsibility, and a flexible open attitude towards new ways of working and ability to handle multiple roles within a growing office
  • have 2D and 3D software knowledge including Revit, Microstation (and/or AutoCAD), Rhino, 3D studio Max, Photoshop and InDesign
