The Company:

Our client is seeking a Junior Architectural Technician to join their growing team on a permanent basis. As a respected architectural studio, they are led by four accomplished directors and supported by a dedicated team of 20 professionals. With 35 years of experience in the field and a unique status as an Employee Owned Trust, they have established themselves as a reputable architectural firm located a short walk from Guildford station.

 

Summary of Role:

This opportunity provides valuable hands-on experience, collaborating closely with a Senior Technician / Technologist, encompassing tasks such as site visits, contributing to technical drawings and surveys, and more. Any previous experience in developing comprehensive packages would be greatly advantageous. Your primary areas of focus will be within the residential and education sectors, with prior expertise in these domains being beneficial, but not essential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the team on UK, large-scale residential, education, healthcare and masterplan projects
  • Generate architectural solutions and develop technical detailing
  • Drafting responsibilities, predominantly focusing on RIBA stages 3-4
  • Show your commitment and develop yourself professionally within the practice.
  • Use AutoCAD and Revit extensively on a daily basis    

 

Ideal Candidate:

  • a BTEC level 3, HNC, or HND qualification in construction
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit, along with a grasp of the design workflow
  • Strong technical knowledge with the ability to produce detailed drawings
  • A good understanding of UK building regulations
  • Able to take instruction well and use your own initiative when required
  • Comfortable assisting the team on projects and working on detailed drawings
  • Strong organisational skills with keen attention to detail
  • Collaborate effectively within a team, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities

What is your role:

As a Senior Architectural Technician/Technologist, your specialisation lies in applying building science and technology to architectural and construction projects. Your expertise allows you to effectively manage the design process and provide innovative solutions based on your technical knowledge and experience. In addition, you have a proven track record in negotiating and managing the development of construction projects. You excel in handling all aspects of architectural and construction contracts, be it traditional, partnering, design & build, or other methods.   • Manage individual Client’s workloads
  • Participate in and, as required, hold regular and formal team management meetings and actively participate in architectural team meetings.
  • Control and monitor work, to ensure clients’ briefs and delivery programmes are achieved
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding associated with RIBA works stages 

Project Delivery
  • Assessing the needs of clients and users and agreeing a project brief
  • Developing project briefs and design programmes;
  • Preparing and presenting design proposals using CAD techniques and traditional methods
  • Working within a team to produce the detailed design process and coordinating detailed design information
  • Assisting with the progression of the Group CAD systems.;

  

 Requirements
  • Experienced in CAD/REVIT capability in a recognised Industry Standard Format, including 3D graphics and presentation relevant basic software (training will be given as required).
  • Able to deliver projects to a minimum of BIM Level 2 standard.
  • An established skill of maintaining excellent client relationships, being competent in key client management as a tool towards developing future business
  • Suitable technical based qualifications, or equivalent by experience.
  • Working towards or registered with MCIAT, TCIAT or similar
  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience or comparable work experience within the building / construction environment both off and on site.
  • A detailed understanding and thorough business knowledge of the Architectural field
