Associate Director – Industrial & Retail Architecture

We’re working with a long-established international architecture practice with an excellent reputation for delivering large scale projects globally. Due to continued growth, they’re looking to hire an Associate Director to join their London team and lead major industrial and big-box retail projects.

This is a senior role combining project leadership, client management, team development, and business growth.

The Role

You’ll lead large-scale industrial and retail schemes across all project stages, acting as the main client contact and overseeing delivery from inception through to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Lead industrial and big-box retail projects across all RIBA stages
  • Manage projects delivered through Design & Build contracts
  • Build strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities
  • Oversee project programmes, budgets, fees, and resourcing
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, and wider project teams
  • Monitor project performance and profitability
  • Mentor junior team members and support team development
  • Help drive efficient digital workflows, including Revit and emerging technologies

Requirements

  • Qualified Architect
  • Strong industrial/logistics and retail project experience
  • Proven experience leading projects from concept to completion
  • Strong knowledge of Design & Build delivery
  • Excellent client-facing and leadership skills
  • Strong REVIT capability

About the Opportunity

 

We are currently looking to fill multiple contract positions (Architects / Architectural Designer) for a large-scale, international mixed-use project currently at Schematic Design stage.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a globally recognised, collaborative office working on a high-profile international developments.

 

The Role

You will support the design team during the early design stages, contributing to the development of a major mixed-use scheme within a BIM-led environment.

Depending on your level, responsibilities will vary:

Senior level:
  • Contribute to façade design and package development
  • Support technical coordination and design delivery
Mid-level:
  • Support the wider team across design and production
  • Assist with modelling and documentation

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a Revit-based BIM environment
  • Support schematic design development
  • Collaborate with internal and international project teams
  • Assist in the production and coordination of design information
  • Contribute to design quality and delivery under tight timelines

Key Requirements

  • Strong Revit proficiency (essential)

About the Practice

Our client is a well-established, design-led architecture studio based in London, specialising in high-rise residential and mixed-use developments.

The practice delivers large-scale schemes typically ranging from 100–300 units, with a strong emphasis on technical delivery, design quality and regulatory compliance.

Due to continued growth, they are now looking to strengthen their team with a Project Architect or Senior Architect, offering clear progression to Associate level.

 

The Role

This opportunity is suited to an Architect confident in technical delivery and project coordination, with experience working on larger-scale residential or mixed-use schemes.

Depending on your level, you will take ownership of projects and play a key role in driving delivery from detailed design through to construction.

Key Responsibilities

Project Architect level:
  • Support delivery across RIBA Stages 3–5
  • Coordinate consultants and project information
  • Assist in producing technical packages and Revit models
  • Contribute to programme management and delivery
Senior Architect level:
  • Lead projects from RIBA Stage 4 onwards (including Gateway 2)
  • Manage project teams, consultants and client relationships
  • Oversee technical delivery, quality and programme
  • Mentor junior team members
  • Progress towards Associate level

Key Requirements

  • Experience in UK residential or mixed-use projects
  • Strong understanding of RIBA Stages 3–4+
  • Revit proficiency (essential)
  • Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations and compliance
  • Strong communication, coordination and teamwork skills

Additional for Senior Architect:
  • 5+ years post-Part 3 experience
  • Proven experience leading projects and managing teams
  • Strong client-facing capability
  • Experience delivering large-scale schemes (100+ units)
