About the Role:

Our client is a long-established, internationally recognised architectural practice with a specialist focus on large-scale public infrastructure and transport-led developments. With a studio in Central London, they operate across the UK, Ireland, and the Middle East, delivering complex and high-value projects in sectors including aviation, rail, education, Life Sciences and workplace environments.

They are currently seeking a Senior Architect to take a leading role on upcoming high-profile UK and international infrastructure projects. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a technically rigorous team shaping future-ready public spaces with a strong sustainability ethos.

The role will involve close collaboration with clients, consultants, and contractors, taking ownership of technical delivery across all RIBA work stages, with a particular focus on coordination, compliance, and project control.

Hybrid working is offered, with a minimum of 2 days/week in-office required.

Key Responsibilities:

Project & Design Control

  • Lead architectural delivery across RIBA Stages 0–7
  • Act as project lead for packages or full schemes, ensuring design intent and statutory requirements are met
  • Coordinate technical information and input from structural, MEP, and specialist consultants
  • Develop documentation for planning applications, building control, and tender submissions
  • Oversee internal design reviews, ensuring technical compliance and quality standards
  • Produce and maintain core documentation including project plans, schedules, and GA drawings

Commercial & Quality Management

  • Support resourcing and fee tracking in line with project profitability goals
  • Maintain a clear audit trail of key design decisions, risks, and client instructions
  • Adhere to internal quality standards and participate in internal/external audits as required

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Provide direction and mentorship to architectural assistants and mid-level team members
  • Define team structure, assign roles, and monitor task progress
  • Work collaboratively with other team leads and contribute to resourcing and forecasting reports
  • Participate in team development initiatives and maintain a proactive approach to CPD

Business Development

  • Identify opportunities for future work through project/client relationships
  • Contribute to bid preparation and marketing submissions as needed

Key Requirements:

  • ARB-registered Architect or equivalent senior-level design professional
  • Minimum 6–8 years’ experience, ideally with exposure to aviation, large-scale infrastructure, transport architecture or life sciences.
  • Excellent working knowledge of RIBA work stages and UK building regulations
  • Strong project delivery and technical design background
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and navigating approvals processes
  • Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD essential; familiarity with BIM Level 2 workflows desirable
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
  • Confident managing client relationships and participating in design reviews and site meetings

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary + discretionary bonus
  • Hybrid working (2-3 days/week in-office)
  • 20 days annual leave + bank holidays, increasing with tenure
  • Additional paid leave between Christmas and New Year
  • Private healthcare (after qualifying period)
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions
  • Reimbursement of ARB/RIBA subscriptions
  • Annual training allowance and access to CPD resources
  • Paid overtime and covered site visit expenses
  • Friendly, sociable studio culture with Thursday drinks and monthly team events

If you’re an experienced architect with infrastructure or transport sector exposure and a passion for public-facing design, we’d love to hear from you.
