Essential Requirements:
  • You will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in landscape design documentation (RIBA stages 1,2,3 & 4) and landscape master planning
  • You have strong leadership and management skills
  • Experience with managing teams of landscape architects or technicians
  • You have worked on complex, multi-disciplinary schemes in the past
  • You have a great understanding of the constructability of complex landscapes
  • You have the ability to lead complex packages and international projects
  • You’re a multitasker with the ability to work well under pressure
  • You can demonstrate strong skills in design and technical design packages, cross-disciplinary coordination, team leadership skills and have a foundation in Revit.
  • Knowledge of working within a BIM environment
  • You would be required to have strong graphic and design skills with proficiency level skills using Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, Sketch-Up, Adobe Suite, Cad Software, NBS and Microsoft Office

What the role includes:

  • To promote Landscape Design excellence and enable the practice to achieve its objective to lead the field in design.
  • Direct the delivery of the services within budgets, targets and timescales agreed with Line Managers and the Principal.
  • Lead, motivate and develop more junior members of the team.
  • To contribute to fee agreement with clients by setting out the scope of service to be delivered on each project.
  • Contribute to development programmes for project team members.
  • To be responsible for leading the landscape design process and for communicating and delivering of landscape design quality objectives for the project.
  • To provide design solutions to Landscape project work.
  • To assist in the preparation of graphical information for presentations, concept design and detail designs.
  • To provide support in preparing specification documents.
  • To assist and implement a broad range of landscape projects, liaising with clients and contractors, preparing contract documentation, appointment and supervision of contractors (including internal teams) and contract administration.
  • To liaise with clients and represent the company in meetings.
  • To work towards presenting landscape projects both verbally and graphically to potential clients from private, public sectors.
  • Responsibility for (C.D.M.) Construction Design and Management and Health & Safety legislation affecting project implementation on his/her projects and be able to take appropriate steps to implement its compliance.

What is your role:

What is your role:

This is a senior role to lead the organisation whilst working on the most iconic landscape projects in London, overseeing a team of Senior Landscape Project Managers and reporting directly to the Director.

 

Due to growth in the scale and scope of works undertaken by our client in recent years, they have expanded the team to continue to deliver these essential services across the full range of iconic projects. This new role of Head of Landscape Strategy will provide the team with a strategic focus and will:

  1. Lead the development of an overarching landscape strategy, engaging and communicating with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure knowledge from internal and external sources is successfully integrated into the future planning for the management, protection and enhancement of the parks.
  2. Lead on the development and delivery of a comprehensive landscape priority project list and associated capital investment programme to support delivery of the landscape strategy.

  • You are a Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute.
  • You have a relevant postgraduate qualification in Landscape Architecture/Management or equivalent professional qualification.
  • You have extensive post-Chartership experience of working at a senior level in an environmental and or landscape management organisation.

  • You have extensive knowledge of the design and management of historic landscapes.

Landscape Strategy

Lead on the development and adoption of the long-term landscape strategy, working in collaboration with colleagues, stakeholders, partner organisations and industry experts.

Landscape Project Register

Lead on the development and delivery of a comprehensive capital investment programme and associated project list, to identify and address both the immediate and longer-term challenges facing the ecosystems, biodiversity, and historic landscape character of the parks in support of the overarching landscape strategy.  

Masterplanning and strategic direction

Lead the Landscape Services team in the development and implementation of the landscape strategy and associated master plans and projects for the horticultural and landscape developments to address challenges around hydrology, arboriculture, landscape resilience, biodiversity loss and visitor pressure.

Project Management

Project manage the implementation, delivery, and monitoring of a range of landscape programmes and projects.

Landscape Services

Project Management and Operational Plans

Lead the Landscape Services team to support colleagues in the delivery of project management and operational plans.

Advice and guidance on activities, programmes and projects

Provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues to ensure the protection and enhancement of the landscape projects during the planning, development and delivery of activities, programmes and projects.  

Financial and Contract Management

Responsible for the management of Landscape Services budgets, capital programmes and contracts within delegated authority.

Landscape Service Contracts

Lead the Landscape Services team in the tendering of landscape service contracts, consultant briefs and specialist services.

Stakeholders and communications.

Maintain and develop links and working associations with a wide range of senior stakeholders. Represent the practice at presentations, talks and media
